Why does your computer shutdown while playing a games

A computer can shutdown for a number of reasons but when playing a game it could be narrowed down to:

-Overheating
-Ram (Memory) being over used to the point of system failure

-Fan not being able to keep up with system

-Screen "glitching" out due to texture and colors changing too quickly along with input from mouse and keyboard overloading system.
