Will games affect how long a computer lasts

The life span of a computer varies with use, environment, maintenance etc...
Recent games tend to use a lot of resources from a computer and also stress its components in an intensive manner.

However, proper software maintenance (windows updates, defrag, etc) and proper hardware maintenance (remove dust collected, fans work properly, computer is kept clean and in a somewhat cool environment) will increase its lifespan considerably.
