How do you know when your dogs are adults on Dogs 5
For dogs under 30 pounds, multiply their age by 6.
For example, if you have a Chihuahua and she is three, she is 18 in dog years.
For dogs 30-90 pounds, multiply their age by 7.
If your Labrador retriever is 6, he is 42 in dog years, so about middle-aged.
For dogs over 95 pounds, multiply their age by 8.
If your Newfoundland is 5, she is 40 in dog years.
For dogs over 150 pounds, multiply their age by 8.5
If your Saint Bernard is 3, he is about 25 and a half in dog years.
Remember that small dogs live almost twice as long as large breeds. Dental care is an essential part of a dog's long life. Make sure you brush your dog's teeth at least once a week. This is proven to extend any dog's lifetime up to 2 healthy years. Brush your dog, feed him/her dry food (it helps clean the teeth and is better than wet food), and exercise him/her often. I personally wish you and your furry friend many happy, healthy years together!
