Do you need the disc to play age of empire 3 after it has downloaded

idk, i downloaded the game from my friend and could play it whenever. but when i tried to reinstall it i said i needed the disk.

You needed the disc because sharing software like this is illegal, and requiring the disc is one way to prevent downloading piracy. Buy the game. Its cheap in comparison to the criminal charges that you might experience. Its also the right thing to do, because piracy deprives software developers from their rightful income.
