How do you beat the drunk stage on my lil bastard

I just beat the drunk stage after trying at it FOREVERRRR!! I threw away all of the alcohol as soon as the level started. Then I just kept him fed and used the computer when he was unhappy. But I think how I won was by feeding him until the meter was all the way up then giving him a bone (not the box of food) when he lost anything from his hunger meter. I'm not sure if this is how I did it, but I finally got passed it haha.
