Can a gallade and gardevoir lay an egg

I didn't think so because I put my Gallade (Level 21) and Gardevoir (Level 40) in daycare and the old man outside said they don't like each other very much. Apparently, we were wrong because they later laid a girl Ralts. Then a boy.( Note: this is in Diamond).
