In The dog island how do you get the silver dog statue

first thing you do is pick up the sent of the silver statue. then knock out the snake by holding down the - (or whatever you use to sniff) button. then sniff around the snake by holding down the A (or whatever button you use) button. if its not there follow the scent as much as you can. i didn't think wise enough when i looked for it. so beware of all snakes.
