How can you play windows games in your mac
If you wish to play Windows games on your Macintosh computer, then you have two options. For both methods you must possess, purchase, or otherwise obtain a working version of Windows on a disk:
1. Install a virtual operating system program such as Parallels and install a copy of Windows. This method allows the user to run both operating systems simultaneously, so a user could be running, for example, Logic on OS X, whilst running AutoCad on Windows. I find this method to be most useful if I want to run a .exe file on my Mac, but do not have a Windows PC to hand. However, running both operating systems at the same time will cause a reduction in system performance, and while both are running, neither will be as efficient - on older or less powerful systems, performance can be significantly reduced.
2. Install a secondary operating system via Boot Camp. This method will require the user to reboot if they wish to switch between operating systems, and the user will be able to select the desired operating system during startup by holding down the Option key. Boot Camp is a free application designed by Apple that is included with most Macs running Leopard or higher. Boot Camp will create another partition on a hard drive onto which Windows will be installed and will use. This method, whilst unsuitable for quick switching between operating systems, will allow Windows to harness the full power of the Mac hardware and will run significantly better, and as such I recommend this method for those who wish to run specifically Windows.
