How do you put cheats in the sims 2 double deluxe step by step

Do the following: 1. hold down shift, and then hold down ctrl (control), and then hold down "c" (without quotations) and let go
2. enter the cheat in the box
3.press Enter and it might not do it exactly but there ya go
