What is the truth in assasains creed 2

About Adam and Eve being captured by the Company (forgot the name), and they are trying to run away with Piece of Eden. (SPOILER) They are somehow told by Minerva in the end of the game that they are some other advanced race and are fighting a war against the immortals.
