When you make a devil chaos chaos do you have to give it dark fruit

Dark Chao won't eat hero fruit. It'll just get a tornado swirl above its head and throw it away. You can still give it dark and Chao fruit, though. No, you do not have to give it dark fruit. (Except for before it evolves, then you have to.) After it evolves, you can feed it anything except for hero fruit.
