How do you get the barber shop on animal crossing Nintendo DS

Note: The steps labeled with numbers can be done out of order.
1. You must have bought at least 250,000 bells worth of merchandise from Nookway.

2. You must have a friend visit your town, and buy at least one item. It doesn't matter which item.

After that, you just wait until the next day and Nook will close his store to remodel to Nookington's, which has the Barber Shop inside of his store.
