In assassins creed who are the real bad guys

Wow, to answer that question properly I'd need to be a philosopher.

But I think what is demonstrated is that the true enemy is Greed.

Or Power?

Or ancient holy artifacts that make you almost invincible? (then again, someone does say that the apple of eden is pure greed, so that makes greed the true enemy.)
