Who is better shadow or sonic

Well, it turns out that apparently sonic is more 'popular' than shadow. If it wasn't for all those newbies (for example people who know who sonic is and they know no other characters) then shadow would be the most popular amongst all sonic series characters ( he already is and always will be.)....
If Sega released shadow first he would be more popular.

Shadow can do Chaos spare blast and control with 1 chaos emerald while sonic need all of them to do just chaos control ,the sad thing is Sega wont let shadow(baddy)win
