How do you defeat the devil doom in shadow the hedgehog

Shoot Doom's eye. He'll keep on switching sides of Doom, so you might have to circumnavigate his boady to reach the other eye. Make sure you stay back on some of his attacks, collect rings when your level goes below twenty and avoid all the rubble.
