In Drawn to Life how does the mayor die

The Mayor is killed by Wilfre. Mari, who is really emotional and doesn't think she can be mayor, has run off and the Mayor mistakes Wilfre sneaking around the forest gate area for Mari. Wilfre comes out and steals the Book of Life, and then the Mayor presumably goes into shock and dies after a long while. Oh BTW, the useless Dr. Cure announces there's nothing she can do. Figures.
