Do cheats effect the video game
Cheats do effect the video game by making the game easier to play and giving special abilities you would not otherwise have. Some cheats give the gaming characters extra lives, or tries to play the game, and super abilities like the ability to fly. Other video game cheats are like gimmicks that make the game a little more exciting, but are not really needed to win. Cheats can certainly help the video game, but if you would like your game to stay challenging as it was in the beginning, do not issue cheats into your game console.

In addition, cheat codes are actually exploits included for a reason. What for? The game developers need a way of testing their product, so they include these little 'backdoor' codes to be able to jump around or quickly set the game to a certain state and test a level or area.

Just FYI, you can RUIN (i.e. corrupt) a savegame if you have a cheat code entered, as this voids the correct settings that are supposed to be recorded by a game proving you have accomplished certain tasks. Use as your own risk.
