Why doesnt my 4GB xbox let you watch dvds

The 4GB Xbox is based solely on just for gaming, any function where there needs to be a download or used to much RAM will not let you do it because of how small the space for any extra things other than achievements, and maybe one or two game downloads. Another possiblity is the Xbox doesn't have a DVD function because the RAM can not bear to play DVDs.
