Why are shooting video games so successful

One: they are full of violence, Which most people love...
Two: they put the player into a first person perspective (or third) and it makes the player feel as though they are in the situation themselves.
and Three: Most Futuristic games are successful because... well because it's in the future, that means more advanced things, like armor, weapons, and races(Aliens)...
