Why do some people hate video games

Because they cannot see the positive aspects, and only focus on the negatives (perceived or real).

Other people just find them hopelessly boring. Some people don't like to spend hours staring at a TV screen unless they're watching something with a plot/story arc and characters that are believable as human beings. Yes, I know that some video games have plots and complex characters, but it's just not the same.
