Gathering is currently one of the best money makers in the game. Leveling skills is slow and expensive. Many players would rather farm for the gold and pay for materials than farm the materials themselves.
Steedgrass, a semi-rare drop from herb gathering, is always a big seller. This herb is required to create mounts and players are always looking for more. The other herbs gathered while looking for steed grass are necessary for potions and reagents, so mages and herbalists will be interested in buying your bulk herbs.
Wood and Stone are good sellers if you are located near large clan cities. Hundreds of thousands of timber and stone are needed for city construction and repair as well as for other crafting skills.

With some skill and patience, farming the farmers is a very viable way to earn money in Darkfall. Quite a few players spend their time stalking gatherers and players who are busy killing monsters.
