How do you stop wow from patching

You don't. You might hold off one patch for a little while (weeks) but in the end if you don't have that patch, you will no longer be able to play. Since they change the rules and settings and it is online worldwide, everyone has to have the same rules; if they allow you to have different rules than me that's unfair to me. The rules on talents, items, locations, and abilities all often change with patches.
