Where On Animal Crossing where do you find food

There isn't really any "food" on animal crossing. The residents say things like spagetti or noodles but you can't get any. Only fruits (which I believe is apple, coconut, orange, and peach) and fish. If this question is related to the hungry walrus painter (I can't remember his name) who asks for food, give him so fish. He'll be happy.
