• the gold saucer battle area depending on if you fight a Vlakorados
• near the bone village
• near the chocobo sage's house

to get it you MUST steal/mug from a Vlakorados until you get the carob nut or you MAY get it after you defeat it. By the way no guarantee that it has 1 but that's the ONLY opponent you can get it from.
