Where do you get Pikachu in silver

If you have seen or battled pikachu in the past in your Pokemon silver game, then go into your pokedex and go to 'area' and it shows the pikachu's nest.But to my experience it only comes out at night time in the game.They rage between level 2 to level 8, so use a strong Pokemon and it may just scare the pikachu into the ball.There is no way to catch Pichu or Raichu.Although if you leave a male and female with the day care people they will produce an egg, many infact, but not at once.If its raichu you want then find a thunder stone and evolve pikachu.pikachu is found in between Pewter city and Viridian.The person above forgot to mention you have to get the national pokedex first.
