Do video games help the mind
Video Games
Video games destroy parts of the brain. How ever, action video games increase eye sight by 20%. Other video games can cause memory loss, anger, or even swearing.
REAL Answer
Not a thing stated above is true at all. They do not cause memory loss, anger, or even swearing. And no genuine health magazine on video games will state that it destroys parts of the brain. Those are all groundless statements based on the likely fact that the poster above probably doesn't like video games for his or her own reasons.
In fact, it HAS been proven that video games IMPROVE some of your brain's functions (and destroys, in fact, NONE of them).
For one, games involving constant motion and control (most older side-scrolling games, flight/driving simulators, etc.) will improve hand-eye coordination and reaction time. Most useful skills to have when driving, as both help you avoid hitting other vehicles/objects on the road if you simply remain attentive while driving.
First Person Shooters like Halo improve the brain's ability to pay attention to detail... logical, really, since you really have to pick out the little things on-screen when playing First Person Shooters.
Tetris, as a classic example, improves the brain's ability to make things fit together (both literally, as in shapes, and figuratively, as in problem-solving). Other such games like Intelligent Qube have similar effects.
Games that require physical movement such as Dance Dance Revolution or Wii Sports not only help the brain, but the body as well. Score another point for video games.
Guitar Hero reduces the need to think about the coordination of strumming/fretting motions, and builds finger dexterity for both hands, thus actually helping to (somewhat) improve the guitar skills of beginning guitarists (I speak from experience as well, since I myself am a guitarist whose skills have been improved by this game).
So YES, Asker of the Question, video games DO help the mind; and NO, First Poster, they DO NOT destroy it. Nor do they cause school shootings or any other type of violence and/or anger management related problems.
