Who is Maria in Sonic adventure 2 battle

Maria Robotnik is the granddaughter of Professor Gerald Robotnik, Shadow the Hedgehog's creator. She was Shadow's best friend and one reason why Shadow was created, as she had a disease called NIDS (Neuro-immuno-deficiency-syndrome) and the Professor hoped to derive a cure for her via Shadow's blood. She unfortunately was shot during G.U.N's raid on the Ark whilst she tried to help Shadow escape.
