What ways were money raised for World War 2
1.The U.S. government rationed, or limited, the amount of certain goods that Americans could buy. Americans used ration coupons issued by the government to purchase all sorts of goods, including coffee, sugar, meat, shoes, gasoline, and tires. When people ran out of coupons, they could not buy the rationed items until new coupons were issued. 2.To combat food shortages, many Americans planted victory gardens. At the height of the war, there were more than 20 million victory gardens in the country. They produced 40 percent of all vegetables grown in the country during World Was II. 3.To pay for the war, the government raised taxes. It also borrowed huge amount of money by selling war bonds to millions of American citizens. Movie stars and other celebrities took part in drives to sell bonds and boost patriotic spirit.
