How do you beat your master on assassins creed

I did it with ease by watching them and how they try to kill u then use it against them. I found out they followed u everywhere but they didnt go where i went they made their own way to get to so i ran around the very bottom floor then went up to the second where one of the enemies was always cutting across so i always used the jump assassinate on him since that wasnt blockable the i ran around the bottom floor then did it again. This works against ur masters copies and ur old enemies which he has rezzed.
