Why should video games not be banned
In the case for or against video games, the depending variable is always: which/what kind of video game, what ages, and what purpose?

For example, puzzle games with contrasting colors may be good for developing toddlers, but detrimental to the development of an older child.

Games such as the harvest moon series are a lesson in time management and financial responsibility, while animal crossing is a materialistic and social-centric role playing game that teaches very little.

Most violent video games are banned if there is little or no good reason to play them. However, for someone committed to joining the military, an hour of strategic military gameplay a week may be helpful.

However, games are and always will be primarily for entertainment, and should not be used as a cover up for poor or no parental guidance.
