You won't find "free" drops in the Wilderness; nothing of high value anyway, though it's extremely rare player-killers will leave anything of major value behind. Even so, be careful if you're scavenging; there are player-killers who do kill unarmed players for sport and perhaps to see if they're carrying anything of value despite not appearing as such.
