Add a public room that has to do with your interests. For example, if you're into kawaii things, then make a room with that. Promote your room through your homepage or invite people that have similar interests into the room.

If you can't make a public room, join one and just start to chat with people. It'll take time, but eventually you'll find the right group of people.

A word of advice by the way- there are some pretty creepy people on Imvu (You really don't wanna know how I know this) so just try to chat with people who don't seem like a pedo.
