Does shard the metal sonic die in sonic universe

In Sonic Universe 50 we see Shard the worst for his battle against Metal Sonic and his Power Gem is cracked. However, while it is conclusive that he is offline/unconcious, it is not conclusive that he is dead. With that in mind, I say: No.
