How do you defeat the executioner in Alice Madness Returns

You can't defeat him at first. You have to dodge and sometimes you also need to attack him with a pepper grinder so he can teleport you to a different place. You can only defeat him when Alice reached the Majestic Maze and eat the cake that will turn her into a giant and step on the executioner.
