Why wont your Game Boy color games keep there saved files

Here is the thing, the games aren't saved on the gameboy color. they are actually saved on a little chip inside the game. That chip is powered by a small button battery that will eventually die. When that happens, you will no longer be able to save your game. In your case, the battery or chip is dead.
