How do you beat the final boss on sonic the hedghog

on the sega genesis of it the pillars will try to crush you...at least 2 of them. one of them will be eggman. hit eggman from the pillars and repeat. be careful because after you hit him there will be electro balls and it is hard because you don't have rings.
