Does it matter if you get Microsoft points in a different country

Well for example if you bought Microsoft points in India and then you came to the United States And Tryed to put it in your American Xbox 360 you might have to change your Xbox LIVE Account to American. Or you can ask the people in the store if the Microsoft Points work in America or even Contact Microsoft if Indian Microsoft Points will work in the United States i think contacting Microsoft is the best way.
