How do you rank up fast on red dead redemption
The way we used to do it on the early version of RDR was to rank up MP points in a local MP match; local MP points count the same as they do for online MP.

The key is to save your MP game data to a flash drive, delete the game installation, then re-install WITHOUT accepting the update when prompted. Doing so will keep you from playing online MP, but you can still play local MP games by yourself. After ranking up points in various challenges, save the data back to the flash drive, re-install the game with the update, then copy the data back to the proper folder.

The update lowered the MP points total significantly; that's why you want to play it without the update and then save your data and copy it later. Once you've done that and go online, you'll find your local MP points now count toward online points.

Of course that was in 2009; they may have corrected it, so test it out early on before you commit.

For online play, doing a Private Free Roam session gets you a lot more points quicker than in a public session. You don't have to worry about others stealing your points when attacking gang hideouts.

Repeatedly attacking gang hideouts is where the real points are, especially if you work the time challenges for more points. With the time challenges, you can average around 1600 or more XP every few minutes if you get proficient at it. Just give your fingers a rest every once in a while, and think about the best strategies for beating each hideout quickly. If you have a friend that can help you, each of you can run through the biggest hideouts in just about 6-8 minutes.

The other way to get points is by doing the Co-op missions, and getting Gold for each one. Once you figure out the strategy for each, it's pretty easy for each run-through.

The key to beating the Co-op missions is to realize that you don't beat them on time, but overall points (though there is a time challenge for each). Each mission is designed to be beaten by a minimum of 2 players, and while more difficult, it can be done if you know your strategy, and you're patient with your attacks.

There is a specific point level you need to reach to achieve gold for each mission. If you get behind on points, take your time at each step and take out as many enemies as possible as long as they continue to respawn before continuing and finishing the mission.
