Why Dont Rome total war cheats work

Inorder for a cheat to work, first you have o type it into "Romeshell" open this by pressing the key that can do this: ~, then type in your cheat and press enter.
If it still doesn't work, then it's because your not typing the cheat in correctly, for example:
lets say you want to use the create unit cheat to make 5 units of completely fully upgraded urban cohorts to a general called "Vibius Julius", typing in:

create_unit "Vibius Julius" "roman urban cohort" 5 9 8 8

won't work because the name urban cohort is only that units game name though not its file data name, however if you typed in:

create_unit "Vibius Julius" "roman praetorian cohort urban i" 5 9 8 8

it would work, I know this because it has worked for me.
