How do you play the flute in sonic adventure 2 battle

You go up to a brown box that looks like the place where the master emereld is kept. If you don't have the flute the character you are playing as will state a comment about the box thing. If you do have the flute you just walk up to the box and press A. You will take out the flute and play it.
