How do you download very hard modes for sonic 2006

I played that and beat the final level as Sonic. I THINK that after you beat the final level for each character, that you are supposed to be able to download a hard mode for that character's story as long as you can get on XBox live. I did say I THINK, so just in case I'm wrong, don't get your hopes up too high.
