Is there a computer program for building a Super Smash Bros Brawl field and then just transfer it to the Wii via SD Card
Ironically, I found the answer to this myself... And notice that I do LONG and ALL-INFORMATIVE answers? ^_^ Gotta get it all out. (Plus it IS quite useful to know what it does IN ADVANCE, as well as any risks).
StageStudio_v0803
(Version 8.03 is the most recent release I've seen)
This is a program for designing Brawl fields without "many" restrictions, as well as even accessing some beta pieces (Which will work just fine in even non-cheating/hacked Wii's, so no need to worry about damaging your system! I should know, as I WON'T EVER hack my lovely Japanese Wii for any reason, and it runs these fields just fine! ^_^)
It allows:
-Unlimited field pieces (Though TOO much will cause lagging; I've not had this problem and done some very filled fields, so it's not much to worry about, I think)
-Overlapping pieces. Can be nice, for various things, such as having an elevator platform taking you to another elevator platform without moving. This also removes the "barrier" around pieces, which normally prevents them touching (Can lead to some interesting effects, such as overlapping spikes and normal blocks so just the tips of the spikes show; it results in SOMETIMES you get hurt by the spikes, other times you aren't and can just walk around!
-CHOOSING the starting points for all four players; ANYWHERE you want, even if you want to overlap them! However, you should always make sure they ARE starting ON a ground piece. At least one character will be badly glitched (Totally immobile) on start in that case
-Adding a thumbnail pic. This will be seen instead of the field preview. So, unless you take a picture of the field you made (with the screenshot button and then just paste into Paint and save it) you will have a default image NOT showing the field. Of course, this means you can add your own preview images, say, a pic of R.O.B. for a field made for R.O.B.
Couple things to note:
1) It's IS possible that SOME (I have had only once out of a fair few) fields can cause the game to FREEZE, NOT CRASH (You won't lose anything other than THAT ONE ROUND's data). When it happened to me (Again, ONCE) it was at the end of the match, when it was going to the Victory Screen. I suspect it was due to a piece that was extending PAST the outer "boundary" of the field, but don't know. However, I've avoided doing that again, and had NO troubles since.
2) DO NOT try to edit these fields through Brawl's editor! You'll just freeze your system when it suddenly hits a data piece it CAN'T read, and just freezes up. You WON'T lose anything, just shut down and restart your Wii. (Unless you have a REALLY WEIRD and VERY unlikely problem, possibly not all related to the altered file in the first place! Get your system checked if you've had strange problems. Of course, Nintendo has NO reason to help if your system has had HACKED/CHEATED data/hardware as YOU destroyed it willingly.)
Of course, this problem doesn't apply to those that cheat on their Wii, as they ALREADY are able to edit past the limits in the game.
