Why is jak an orphan

Jak's real dad is Damus, from Jak 3. In the future, where Jak was born, he was sent to the past so he can hide from the metal head leader (you're gonna have to play the game to understand fully). His mom is never mentioned but since he has no parents, he's an orphan.
