How do you update Nintendo DS lite software

you cant. While playing WFC online for new releases, I have noticed some rule and programming changes while connected though. That would be the game pack or Nintendo servers though, not system.

However, DSi does update its software (but if the updates are anything like the Wii, it's just to prevent hackers who usually don't update anyway).
