How do you equipt items for tf2

1. Go to the main menu
2. Click "manage items"
3. Click the picture of the class that uses the item.
4. Click the equipment slot the item uses (eg. hats go in the hats slot, melee weapons go in the melee slot etc.)
5. click equip next to the item you want to equip.

Tip: You can also skip steps 1-3 if you are playing in game as the class you want to modify the loadout for by pressing "M" All changes will take effect at next respawn unless modified otherwise.
