What happened to the original shadow in sonic avdenture

After Super Sonic and Super Shadow used Chaos Control to warp the ARK away from earth,Shadow ran out of power,thus he fell to earth. P.S.:Eggman rescued him some time later,so the Shadow you see from Sonic heroes and on is the REAL Shadow,he just lost his memory.
