Is call of juarez a free-roaming game

Most of the game is linear. In between certain missions however, there are areas where you can take on side missions an area about the size of a mission area. It's sort of free-roaming lite as there are at max three side missions with the occasional scripted bandit attack and discoverable secrets/cash.
