What is a video game patch

A patch is a little software which tells the gaming software that the copy of this game is registerd to this computer so game should be run.
it is used to play illegal copies of the games on a system.
every game has a unique id which can only be installed on one computer but this patch acts as this is the 1st computer on which this game is being installed.
