Why are teenagers obsessed with video games

Studies show that a high percentage of teenagers enjoy playing video games because its a way to "escape reality" and do lot of things they can't do in everyday life. A teenager with low self esteem is more likely to become addicted because they will feel as though they are someone else in another reality (that can save the world, etc.) when they feel so little in "the real world". The games that are becoming the most popular are the online video games that you can create an avatar, act as another person, make their own money, make themselves look like celebrity stereotypes. Overall, its probably because they give a high level of stimulant for the brain and give an opportunity to have fun with friends.
