How do you put a hat on your chao in sonic adventure 2 battle

to make ur chao b able to use a hat u need 2 give him a skeleton dog/cow (whatever it is), u can find 1 in pumpkin hill on top of the mountain to the left of where u start.( i think its church mountain)
